Hyderabad, Dec 1 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced that the Congress government will release the Rythu Bharosa amount after the Sankranti festival. Addressing a press conference at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Sunday, the Chief Minister reaffirmed his government’s commitment to farmers' welfare and outlined various measures implemented since assuming office. Reddy highlighted the enthusiastic participation of thousands of farmers in the recent farmers' festival held in Palamuru (Mahabubnagar), which he described as a source of strength for the government. He noted that lakhs of farmers joined the festival through 568 platforms across the state, reflecting their faith in the Congress government's initiatives. The Chief Minister criticized the previous BRS administration for leaving the state in significant debt. He said the Congress handed over Telangana with a Rs 69,000 crore debt but with a Rs 16,000 crore surplus. In contrast, the BRS government left a staggering Rs 7 lakh crore debt, requiring Rs 6,500 crore in monthly repayments including interest and principal. Reddy accused the BRS leadership of misleading the public about the state's financial health and pledged transparency, pointing to a white paper his government released detailing the fiscal situation. Despite inheriting a massive debt, Reddy asserted that the Congress government implemented its guarantees, focusing on making farmers "kings." He cited achievements like loan waivers, free electricity, subsidized fertilizers, support price initiatives, and the employment guarantee scheme. Under Rythu Bharosa, the government disbursed Rs 7,625 crore, fulfilling a long-pending commitment. Regarding the loan waiver scheme, the Chief Minister revealed that his government waived loans of up to Rs 2 lakh for over 25.35 lakh farmers in just 25 days. He emphasized that this totaled Rs 20,616 crore, a record-breaking achievement in independent India. In contrast, Reddy criticized the BRS government’s fragmented approach to waivers, which he claimed resulted in higher interest burdens for farmers. He urged farmers to disregard opposition propaganda and assured them that the Congress government remains steadfast in its commitment to their welfare. The Chief Minister reiterated that his government has formed a ministerial sub-committee to finalize Rythu Bharosa guidelines. These procedures will be discussed in the upcoming assembly session, ensuring transparency and efficiency. He urged farmers to disregard opposition propaganda and assured them that the Congress government remains steadfast in its commitment to their welfare. Reddy also addressed misconceptions about the Rs 500 bonus for cultivating fine rice, encouraging farmers to grow varieties like Telangana Sona, BPT, and HMT, which are widely consumed in the state. He highlighted plans to distribute locally grown rice through ration shops and welfare hostels, further supporting farmers. Reddy affirmed that the Congress government’s actions, including the Rythu Bharosa and loan waiver schemes, demonstrate its dedication to improving the lives of Telangana’s agricultural community. He urged the media to effectively communicate these initiatives to farmers and counter misinformation propagated by opposition parties...////...
