SCR promotes digital payments for convenient ticketing

Hyderabad, Feb 6 (Reporter) South Central Railway (SCR) is actively encouraging the use of digital payments for ticket purchases at railway stations. In a move to enhance the online infrastructure and streamline ticketing for rail users, SCR has introduced Point of Sale (PoS) machines and enabled Unified Payments Interface (UPI) payments at Passenger Reservation System (PRS) and Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters in major non-suburban (NSG) 1-4 and suburban category stations, a SCR statement said on Tuesday. With a focus on catering to the evolving preferences of passengers and promoting online transactions, SCR has deployed over 466 PoS machines for PRS and UTS ticketing across the zone. These machines facilitate seamless payments through debit/credit cards, providing passengers with an efficient and convenient transaction experience. Additionally, passengers can use various UPI apps downloaded from app stores for flexible and speedy payments through their mobile phones. SCR is actively identifying and assessing the demand for digital payment facilities, such as PoS and UPI, at uncovered non-suburban and suburban category railway stations. Arun Kumar Jain, General Manager of SCR, emphasised the proactive approach to promoting digital payments to align with the digital India initiative in railways.
