Kannur, April 18 (Reporter) Noted Malayalam film Script writer and author of several books, Balaram Mattanur, who was undergoing medical treatment, died on Thursday. He was 62 and survived by wife K N Soumya and one daughter Gayathri. His notable contributions include acclaimed films ``Kaliyattam". which bagged a national film award in 1998 to Suresh Gopi for best actor and other Malayalam films,Karmayogi, Samavakyam, Annya lokam, Pithavinum puthranum parisudha athmavinum were some of them. He has also authored books such as Muyal gramam, Ravi Bhagvan (Children Literature), Kashi (Novel), The funeral function will be held at Pulluppi Community cremotarium in the evening, family sources said.
