Security personnel arrest 200 for creating violence in Murshidabad during anti-Waqf Act protest.

Kolkata, Apr 14 (Reporter) Altogether 200 miscreants have been arrested for allegedly indulging in violence during a protest against the Waqf Amendment Act, in Murshidabad district, ADG Law & Order Javed Shamim said on Monday. He told reporters that no one would be spared, and legal action would be taken against all people found involved in violence last week. He said the internet services have been suspended to contain a misinformation campaign on social media from outside the state. The ADG said the situation was gradually returning to normal and no untoward incident had been reported from the areas in the past 36 hours. He appealed to the people to extend cooperation for the restoration of peace in Murshidabad and Malda. Route march from both the state police and Central armed forces was continuing, and many IPS officers have been camping in sensitive areas and monitoring the situation. Following frenzied violence at Suti, Dhulian, Samsherjunge, many families have fled their homes for life in Malda by crossing Ganga on boats and have taken shelter in a school at Baishnabnagar.
