Mumbai, Sep 16 (Reporter) Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde Group) MLA Sanjay Gaikwad kicked up a political storm on Monday by offering a bounty of Rs 11 lakh to chop off the tongue of Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for his alleged anti-reservation remarks. The Congress demanded filing of a police case against Gaikwad. Gaikwad said that Gandhi wants to end reservation for backward tribals and others and hence he is using language of ending it. “When the demands of reservation are rising in Maharashtra and the country, Rahul Gandhi made a statement to end reservation in the country. In the Lok Sabha elections, he spread a false narrative to get votes while today he is speaking the language of ending reservation and has shown the real face of the Congress,” Gaikwad said. 'It is the biggest treachery on the people of India. I will give a reward of Rs 11 lakhs to anyone who can chop off Rahul Gandhi’s tongue,” declared Gaikwad, hitting out at Gandhi’s allegedly anti-reservation remarks made during his recent US visit. Gaikwad’s comments evoked strong reactions from the Maha Vikas Aghadi allies Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (SP) who slammed the Mahayuti government, even as ruling ally Bharatiya Janata Party distanced itself from the controversy. State BJP President Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that he did not endorse or support the Shiv Sena MLA’s statements. Congress’ Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettiwar condemned the remarks and called upon Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis to lodge a police case against Gaikwad. “The Shinde Shiv Sena is not even worthy of taking Rahul Gandhi’s name… Gaikwad is nothing more than a traitor MLA from a stolen party. It is clear that in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the people of the state will teach a lesson to Shinde and all his MLAs,” said Wadettiwar. He called upon the government that if there is even an iota of law left in the state, then they should immediately take action against Gaikwad for his poisonous remarks. Wadettiwar said apart from disturbing the social harmony in Maharashtra, the current state government has also destroyed political harmony and parliamentary traditions. Gaikwad has been at the centre of controversies in the past as well. Recently, he was in news over making a policeman wash his car. On a separate occasion, he claimed hunting a tiger in the year 1987. This even attracted charges under wildlife protection law...////...
