Bhubaneswar, July 19 (Reporter) Senior Advocate of Orissa High Court Pitambar Acharya has been appointed as the Advocate General of Odisha. Odisha Governor Raghubar Das on Friday appointed Pitambar Acharya , a senior Advocate of Orissa High court as the Advocate General of the state with immediate effect. A notification on the appointment of Achraya was issued by the Law Department of the State Government. The notification said “In pursuance of Clause (1) of the Article 165 of the Constitution of India, the Governor of Odisha is pleased to appoint Pitambar Acharya, Senior Advocate, High Court of Orissa to be the Advocate General for the State of Odisha with immediate effect,” A LLB graduate from University Law College, Utkal University, Acharya also holds a Masters degree in Political Science. His academic interests are in Law/Public Policy which include understanding the contemporary political, cultural, economic, and social issues and their social and socio-economic aspects to facilitate Legal Research on a national level. Acharya has vast experience as a High Court Advocate. He came to the limelight in 2019 when he contested against the then Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik from the Hinjili assembly constituency as a BJP candidate. As a student leader, Acharya was President of two premier institutions of Bhubaneswar, BJB College & University Law college and championed the cause of the students’ community. His professional journey started as a journalist but later he switched over to law and worked as a lawyer in the Orissa High Court. During the past three decades as a law professional, Acharya had tried to uphold the dignity of the legal profession with strict adherence to professional ethics, etiquette and integrity.
