Shinde alerts civic, relief agencies following heavy rain forecast

Mumbai, July 21 (Reporter) Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday instructed civic agencies and local self-government bodies to remain ready for helping citizens in view of the forecast of heavy rains in some districts of Kokan and Mumbai. The India Meteorological Department has warned of heavy rains in some districts of Konkan, including Mumbai. The Chief Minister instructed that all district administrations should remain alert and remain updated on warnings issued by the Met Department as well as the Disaster Management Unit. Preparedness of National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force should be high, he said. He also instructed monitoring of water level in dams and ponds and regulation of discharge to prevent the risk of flooding...////...
