Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Aug 26 (Reporter) Police on Monday resorted to a mild 'lathi' charge to defuse tension following the clash between the Shiv Sena-UBT and BJP workers in front of Hotel Rama International where Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray is currently staying during his tour here.
The Shiv Sena-UBT workers, led by senior party leader and Leader of Opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, were agitating demanding for immediate implementation of the Shakti Act in the state to protest against the Badlapur incident.
At the same time, BJP workers, led by Harshvardhan Karad, staged a counter agitation questioning why the Uddhav Thackeray government closed investigation in Disha Salian death case when he was the chief minister.
Karad alleged that the Maha Vikas Aghadi's agitation against crimes against women was a gimmick.
Opposition leader Danve alleged that the Shiv Sainiks were lathi-charged by police, whereas city police did not act against BJP protesters.
He accused police of taking a unilateral action against Shiv Sainiks and demanded to take a similar action against BJP protesters.
Meanwhile, Aaditya Thackeray also criticised the government, saying that the Shakti Act was passed by the state legislature, but it is pending before the central government for approval.

Police is taking action against the Shiv Sena workers on the orders of the grand alliance, he added...////...
