Bengaluru, Aug 17 (Reporter) Hours after Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot granted permission to prosecute Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in connection with the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) land scam case, the latter on Saturday claimed that he has the support of Congress High Command. The statement of Siddaramaiah is to send a clear message to Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot and the central government that he will not be perturbed amidst controversy surrounding the alleged MUDA scam. Siddaramaiah, who has been granted permission for prosecution, was unwavering in his assertion of the support he enjoys from his party and allies. "We are not alone in this battle," Siddaramaiah declared emphatically to reporters. "Our entire Cabinet, the party high command, every MLA, MLC, and our MPs in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha stand united with me. We will not allow the Governor's decision to undermine our legitimacy." The Chief Minister's remarks followed a sharp rebuke of the Governor's decision, which Siddaramaiah denounced as a partisan move designed to destabilize Karnataka’s elected government. He accused the Governor of acting as a "stooge of the central government" and alleged that the prosecution permission was part of a larger conspiracy against his administration. Karnataka Congress MLA Ajay Dharam Singh echoed this sentiment, expressing unwavering support for Siddaramaiah. “We knew this was coming. The central government cannot digest the popularity of our chief minister. But nothing will come of it. We’re going to court, and we’re standing strong with our CM,” Singh asserted confidently. "The Governor has permitted the prosecution legally. Siddaramaiah is a culprit in two cases," Karandlaje alleged. "In the Valmiki Development Corporation, he himself admitted in the Vidhan Sabha that this corruption does not amount to Rs 187 crores but to Rs 89 crores.
