Chennai, Jan 28 (Reporter) Six people were killed on the spot when the car in which they were travelling collided with a lorry at Singilipatti village near Kadayanallur in the southern Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu on Sunday morning. Reports received at the police headquarters here said the victims, all natives of Puliyankudi village near Tenkasi, were returning to their home after a holiday trip and having at bath at Courtallam falls, when the tragedy occurred. All the six deceased were friends. The accident occurred around 4.30 a.m., police sources told UNI. The impact of the collision was such that the car was completely damaged and reduced to a mangled heap. Police and fire service personnel found it difficult to retrieve the bodies, which were later sent to government hospital for post mortem. Traffic on the busy Tenkasi-Madurai National Highway was affected for nearly two hours following the accident. Through traffic was restored after the damaged vehicle was cleared from the spot.
