Itanagar, Jan 12 (Reporter) In a major crackdown on Naga insurgents operating from Arunachal Pradesh, security forces have apprehended six hardcore cadres of NSCN (IM) along with arms in the southern Arunachal Pradesh district of Longding on Thursday, police sources said on Friday.
Acting on specific input, a joint operation involving Military Intelligence, Security forces and Longding Police was launched in the area between Longding town and Niausa in which six cadres were arrested.
During spot interrogation, the arrested cadres revealed that they are also having sophisticated arms in a hideout between Knoknu and Khasa villages. Further operations in that region resulted in the recovery of three MQ assault rifles, detonators, mobile phones, and other war-like stores.
In this regard, a case has been registered at Longding Police Station under IPC Sections 120b/121/122/384/506 read with Sect 10/13 UAP Act and Sect 25(1A)/27 Arms Act and an investigation is going on.
The arrested cadres have been identified as SS (self-styled) ASO/Secy Wancho Region Wangpang Wangsa (28), SS Maj /Steering committee member Photong Pansa @ Janmai/Pannai (64), SS Capt Mikgam @ Longsah/Tapha Wangsa (27), SS Sgt Thangwang @ Athang Wangsa (29), SS Capt Alung Ngodam (31), and SS L/Cpl Jamgang Gangsa (27), an ex-ENNG (Eastern Naga National Government) cadre surrendered on July 21, 2021 who transitioned to NSCN (IM) on December 31, 2023.
Further investigations revealed that the arrested NSCN (IM) members were serving extortion notes to several HoDs (heads of departments) and public leaders, exposing their several evil plans, sources added...////...
