Solapur, Feb 3 (Reporter) Deputy Chief Minister Ajit dada Pawar on Saturday announced that Solapur Municipal Corporation will receive Rs 267 crores for pipeline construction for Ujani under the Maharashtra Suvarna Jayanti Nagrotthan Mahaabhiyan Yojana, with the first installment of Rs 90 crores expected within two days.
Pawar spoke at a review meeting on various development works in Solapur district, held at Nijojang Bhavan's hall.
MLA Yashwant Mane, MLA Sanjay Shinde, Collector Kumar Ashirwad, Municipal Commissioner Shital Teli-Ugle, City Police Commissioner Rajendra Mane, Superintendent of Police Shirish Sardeshpande, Additional Chief Executive Officer Sandeep Kohinkar, and all concerned department heads were present.
Pawar has approved a Rs 894 crore project to bring 170 million liters of water daily from Ujani Dam to Solapur city under the Solapur City Augmented Water Supply Scheme. Under this, work is going on.
The state government is set to receive Rs 267 crores, with the first phase of Rs 90 crores expected to be available within two days.
Solapur City Municipal Corporation has been approved by the National Highway Authority for two flyovers, namely old Puna Naka to Jakarta Bhavan and old Boramani Naka to Morarka Bungalow, and a government share of 101 crores will also be made available soon for land acquisition.
However, the Municipal Corporation should immediately complete the following works and make efforts to provide water to the citizens of Solapur city.
Pawar said that since the water level of Ujani Dam has decreased, the Municipal Corporation has to do double and triple pumping to supply water to the people of the city. Due to a lack of rainfall this year, there is a shortage-like situation in the district.
Accordingly, Pawar directed that although the Sangola Regional Water Supply Scheme is being run well, all the regional water supply schemes in the district should be run on the same basis to ensure that water is supplied to every village from the regional water supply schemes, which are running through the Maharashtra Life Authority.
Also, after reviewing the drought situation in the district, water supply measures should be taken at the required places in every village.
'The Seed Corporation has directed strict planning to ensure fodder availability for animals until June 2024, and to promptly make fodder seeds available to Solapur district due to the seriousness of the shortage situation,' he added...////...
