Somanna reviews progress of new Railway line projects in Karnataka

Tumakuru, Oct 2 (Reporter) Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna on Wednesday reviewed the progress of the Tumakuru-Rayadurga and Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere New Railway line Projects during a meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here. The 206 kms Tumakuru-Rayadurga line, running through Kalyanadurga, covers eight stations in Tumakuru district and seven in Andhra Pradesh. Officials reported 83 kilometers between Doddahalli and Rayadurga have been completed. Full land acquisition has been achieved for the Tumakuru-Urukere, Urukere-Koratagere, and Madakasira-Pavagada sections, while 91 percent of land for the Koratagere-Madhugiri and Madhugiri-Madakasira sections has been secured. The Pavagada-Doddahalli section has acquired 97 percent of the required land. Construction is ongoing for the Tumakuru-Urukere and Pavagada-Doddahalli sections. Tenders for Urukere-Koratagere and Koratagere-Madhugiri have been issued, with tenders for other sections soon to follow. Somanna urged officials to expedite the remaining land acquisition and ensure timely completion. Key officials, including Ajay Sharma, CAO, South Western Railway, and Subha Kalyan, Deputy Commissioner of Tumakuru, were present. Earlier, Somanna participated in a Swachhata Shramdan event at Gandhi Bhavan, promoting cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Later, he chaired a review meeting in Chitradurga with local officials, including MP Govind Makthappa Karjol and MLA T Raghumurthy, to discuss the Tumakuru-Chitradurga-Davangere project. The Minister also expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for arranging special trains for the Kumbh Mela.
