Bengaluru, June 11 (Reporter) In a strategic move, the BJP central leadership has appointed senior Karnataka leader V Somanna as Minister of State (MoS) in the Ministry of Jal Shakti and MoS in the Ministry of Railways. Somanna, renowned for his effective execution of government schemes, now faces the challenge of enhancing Karnataka's railway connectivity, particularly between Bengaluru and the underdeveloped northern regions. This appointment underscores the BJP's faith in his ability to tackle critical infrastructure issues and drive regional development. A respected figure within the Lingayat community, Somanna's selection over other notable Lingayat leaders, such as former Chief Ministers Basavaraj Bommai and Jagadish Shettar, highlights his strong rapport with prominent Lingayat seers. His role in the Ministry of Jal Shakti is particularly significant given the ongoing Cauvery river water dispute between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. In the other significant induction, Shobha Karandlaje has been named Minister of State in the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Minister of State in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.
