Patna, Oct 8 (Reporter) A special CBI court on Tuesday sentenced Mukhlal Paswan, former Station House Officer (SHO) of Barhara police station in Purnia district of Bihar to life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh in a fake encounter case.
Additional District and Session Judge of special CBI court Avinash Kumar, after hearing arguments of defence and prosecution, awarded life imprisonment to Paswan and also slapped a fine of Rs one lakh as he was found guilty in a fake encounter case.
Paswan was declared guilty under sections 302, 201, 193, and 182 of the Indian Penal Code(IPC). The convict would have to undergo additional imprisonment of six months if failed to pay the fine.
The court also awarded five years imprisonment to another accused former Sub Inspector (SI) Arvind Kumar Jha under 193 section of IPC . He was also slapped fine of Rs 50,000 in this case and would have to go additional imprisonment of six months if failed to pay the fine.
According to the charges, police conducted a raid at the residence of Jagdish Jha and shot dead Santosh Kumar Singh which was later termed an encounter . The case was handed over to CID and later it was handed over to CBI after it was suspected to be a fake encounter case...////...
