Chennai, Jan 9 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Thursday announced a solatium of Rs two lakh to the family of a woman from the State, who died in a stampede at Tirumala, the abode of Lord Venkateswara, during distribution of tokens for free darshan during tomorrow's Vaikuna Ekadesi. In a statement here, he said the woman, Mallik (55), who died in the tragedy, was a native of Mettur Taluk at Mecheri village in Salem district of the State. Expressing deep anguish and grief over her death, the Chief Minister offered his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and announced a solatium of Rs two lakhs from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund. Earlier, in a social media post, Mr Stalin said "Deeply saddened by the tragic stampede at Tirupati, which has claimed innocent lives, including those from Tamil Nadu."
