Chennai, Nov 9 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inspected a cracker manufacturing unit
in the southern Virudhunagar district and also visited a government school and interacted with the students on Saturday.
Mr Stalin is on a two-day visit to the district to inspect the ground situation as part of his state-wide tour to review the implementation of various welfare measures launched by the ruling DMK ahead
of the 2026 Assembly polls.
Earlier, Mr Stalin, who landed in Madurai airport, reached Virudhunagar by road. A large number people, including women, DMK functionaries and cadres, carrying party flags, accorded rousing reception to him by lining up on both sides of the roads all along the route.
Mr Stalin got down from his vehicle, met the people, interacted with them, heard their grievances
and also received petitions from them.
Later, he inspected a fireworks manufacturing uni at Kannicherry Pudur in Melachinnayapuram
village in the district and interacted with the workers, witnessed the cracker making process and heard their grievances.
He also inspected the licence granted to the Madan Fireworks cracker manufacturing unit, the godown where chemicals meant for making crackers were stored and other facilities in the unit, besides the safety measures put in place.
About 80 people, including 36 women, are working in the unit, which has not reported any mishap, and asked whether they were getting the monthly assistance of Rs 1,000 for women household heads under the pioneering Magalir Urimai Thittam scheme.
He also directed the cracker unit management to ensure proper insurance cover for all the workers.
Later, he met a large number of people, who had gathered outside the cracker unit, interacted with them and received petitions from them.
Later, in the evening he visited a government school and met the students and teachers and interacted with them. He also inspected the facilities made in the school for the students...////...
