Chennai, Nov 15 (Reporter) In a big boost to industrial development, Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for Taiwanese firm Dean
Shoes footwear manufacturing unit involving an investment of Rs 1,000 crore
in Ariyalur district on Friday.
The facility will come up at SIPCOT Industrial Complex at Jayamkondam in
the district, an official release said.
It will provide jobs for nearly 15,000 people and the MoU for this project
in the industrially backward Ariyalur district was signed by the Taiwanese
frim with the Tamil Nadu government during the Global Investors Meet held
in January this year
The release said the state government has been taking various steps by
attracting large scale investments to create more job opportunities for youth
and to attain the goal of making TN a USD one trillion economy by 2030.
In line with this, the DMK government headed by Mr Stalin, after assuming
office in May 2021, has ensured creation of more than 75,000 jobs, majority
of them for women, in non-leather footwear industry by attracting nearly
Rs 6,300 crore investments.
In another official function, he also launched the second phase of nutritional
scheme for malnourished children and lactating mothers, benefitting 76,705
babies in the age group of 0-6 months.
In another event, Mr Stalin also launched a slew of 507 completed development
projects at an estimated cost of Rs 88 crore in Ariyalur and Perambalur districts,
laid the foundation for 53 new projects involving Rs 120.04 crores and distributed
welfare assistance to the tune of Rs 173.96 crores for 21,862 beneficiaries...////...
