Chennai, Dec 22 (Reporter) Slamming Opposition AIADMK leader Edappadi K Palaniswami for allegedly
betraying the interests of the State and that both the AIADMK and the BJP should not return to power, ruling DMK President and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin on Sunday declared that the target is to 200 seats in the 2026 Assembly poll and the DMK should form the government again.
Addressing the DMK's high level Executive Committee meeting here, he said the battle ground
for elections is still one and a half years away and the target is that the DMK should form the government for the seventh time.
"Our alliance will win 200 seats and the victory in 2026 Assembly election is ours", he said.
Asserting that the DMK's biggest strength was its organisational set up, Mr Stalin said "you (the
DMK cadres) are the roots. Our hardwork in the electoral field will seal our victory in 2026 and
DMK will form the government for the seventh time", he added.
Stating the DMK's ideological alliance has been winning all the elections starting from 2019 Lok Sabha polls, 2021 Assembly polls, the rural and urban and local body polls, the Chief Minister
said through these victories the DMK Front was functioning as a democratic pillar to protect the country, its people, federal principles, language, tradition and secularism.
Noting that several people are making calculations against this ideological alliance, Mr Stalin
said he firmly believe that their calculations will go awry and the victory is for the DMK-led Front.
"Whether all the Opposition parties (including the AIADMK and the BJP) which has been training
its guns on the DMK, come separately or together to split the votes, the DMK-Front only will win
the elections, that too not an ordinary win but a historic win", he asserted.
He, however, cautioned the DMK cadres not to remain complacent and work harder as winning
200 seats is not that easy, Mr Stalin said.
Whether they (the AIADMK and the BJP) come by forming a direct alliance or an indirect alliance,
we should inform the people that these parties are very dangerous for Tamil Nadu and Tamil race.
"While informing the people as to why the DMK should come to back to power, at the same time
we should also make them understand as to who and why they should not come to power", he
added.
Noting that the DMK will never get the media cushion as being received by the AIADMK, BJP and
the newly emerging parties, Mr Stalin the DMK was facing this chhalenge for the last 75 years.
"This movement (DMK) has grown by turned these challenges into achievements and we have to always work for the welfare of the people", he said and listed out various welfare schemes launched by the more than three-year DMK government headed by him since May 2021...////...
