Stalin to leave for US to attract investments

Chennai, Aug 27 (Reporter) Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin will leave for United States on Tuesday night to attract investments to the State. Mr Stalin will be going on an official visit to the US for 17 days. He is expected to return on September 12. During his visit, Mr Stalin will investors, industrialists and businessmen and hold talks with them to invest in the State. Several MoUs were also expected to be signed during his visit. Mr Stalin will start by San Francisco and was also expected to visit Chicago to meet the investors to attain the goal of making TN a USD one trillion economy by 2030. He was also expected to meet and interact with the Tamil diaspora in the US. As a prelude to his visit, Industries Minister T R B Raaja had already reached the US and held preliminary meetings with potential investors and industry leaders. This would be the third foreign visit for Mr Stalin after he assumed office as Chief Minister for the first time in May 2021. He had earlier visited UAE, Spain, Singapore and other countries and inked pacts with investors. In the last three years, the State has attracted investments worth Rs 9 lakh 74,000 crore creating direct and indirect employment for 31 lakh people. Ahead of his US visit, Mr Stalin inaugurated the TN Investment conclave a couple of days back in which he launched 19 projects worth Rs 17,616 crore, offering jobs to 64,968 people. and laid foundation stone for 28 other projects worth Rs 51,157 crore, offering jobs to 41,835 people. In all 1,06,803 people would get jobs, Mr Stalin said. Majority of the MoUs with regard to above were signed during the Global Investors Meet (GIM) held in January this year. He said a total of 631 MoUs were signed committing investments to the tune of Rs 6.64 lakh crore. in the GIM through which employment will be provided to 14 lakh people directly and 12 lakh people indirectly. Mr Stalin thanked all the businessmen and industrialists, who have attended the Investment conclave and also appealed to them to bring other companies and invest in the State for the overall industrial development and become industrial ambassadors of the State government. "My kind request to you is that it is not enough that you start businesses here but also bring other companies like you to Tamil Nadu... Let them start their business. I request all of you to become industrial ambassadors of Tamil Nadu government", he added. In the last three years since the DMK came to power, Tamil Nadu has attracted innumerable industrial projects. "Our government is committed to achieving the goal of making Tamil Nadu a USD 1 trillion economy by 2030 by attracting high-tech industries that attract more investment and attracting industries that create more employment", he said.
