Dehradun, Feb 10 (Reporter) The Special Task Force in Uttarakhand has successfully seized narcotics worth crores of rupees on Saturday from various locations in a targeted crackdown on drug trafficking. According to STF's Superintendent of Police (SP) Ayush Agrawal, under the umbrella of the state government's "Drug Free Devbhoomi" initiative, STF teams led by Deputy Inspector General of Police Sumit Pandey and Inspector MP Singh conducted operations resulting in significant seizures. Two interstate drug traffickers were apprehended in Udham Singh Nagar district, Uttarakhand, with a significant amount of illegal smack, highlighting their significant involvement in the illicit drug trade. Further investigations revealed intricate networks involved in sourcing narcotics from major dealers in other regions. The traffickers had elaborate plans to distribute the seized drugs to parties in neighbouring countries, highlighting the complexity of the drug trafficking landscape. The Anti-Narcotics Task Force, led by Inspector Neeraj Chaudhary, intercepted a trafficker in Rishikesh and seized heroin before it reached the market, preventing the distribution of illegal substances and disrupting the narcotics flow. The commendable efforts of the STF and ANTF teams have been recognised, with each team receiving cash prizes for their successful operations. Meanwhile, the arrested traffickers have been remanded in judicial custody under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, ensuring accountability for their actions. These operations signify a significant milestone in Uttarakhand's ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and uphold law and order.
