Imphal, Jan 8 (Reporter): Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh distributed benefits to labour card holders under a special scheme for those staying at relief camps on Wednesday.
The Chief Minister stated that one should not indulge in petty politics, but rather work concertedly during this crucial period in the state's history.
The Chief Minister said, a total of Rs 2,89,10,000 was disbursed to around 5225 persons through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) during the day. A sum of Rs. 5000 has been provided as one time to every family having valid labour card and staying in the relief camps (IDPs).
He praised the Minister and officials of the department for taking such initiatives towards providing assistance to the inmates residing in relief camps with transparency and accountability. The Chief Minister mentioned that the BJP-led government had launched various citizen centric schemes for the welfare of the people.
He further stated that Chief Minister-gi Hakshelgi Tengbang (CMHT) was launched on January 21, 2018 by the government after considering the hardships faced by the poor and needy people on medical treatment. Similarly, Chief Minister Sotharabasin-gi Tengbang was launched for the welfare and development of the differently-able persons of the state. Under School Fagathansi mission, children of the labour card holders residing in relief camps are being provided free education in government schools.
N. Biren Singh said, under Chief Minister gi Artistes singi Tengbang (CMAT) scheme, monthly pension is being provided to around 900 artistes. Thousands of families have been benefited under ‘One Family One Livelihood Scheme’, he added. He further stated that around 500 youths shall be provided skills training at Delhi for cabin crew placements. The funding for the training will be borne by the Ministry of Tourism and the priority will be given to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs). He said, around 17 Start Ups have already employed around 432 IDPs.
The Chief Minister said that the government has been extending all possible assistance in shifting people affected by the conflict to safer places. In Phubala area, prefabricated houses have been constructed by the government. And people have been moved to the houses located at a safer place.
