Sushil Modi suffering from cancer, will not campaign in Lok Sabha polls

Patna, April 3 (Reporter) Former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and BJP Rajya Sabha member Sushil Kumar Modi on Wednesday said that he was suffering from Cancer for the last six months and he would not be able to campaign in the Lok Sabha election. Modi posted on social media account X informing that he was suffering from Cancer for the last six months. It was time for him to inform all about the fact that he was suffering from Cancer, he added. " I will not be able to campaign for Lok Sabha elections", the senior BJP leader said, adding that he had informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi about his health complications. He would ever remain grateful to the country, Bihar and his party for getting opportunity to serve the people, Modi remarked and added that he would remain dedicated to all. As it is, Modi remained Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar in Nitish Kumar cabinet since NDA was voted to power in 2005 till 2020 barring a period of four years from 2013 to 2017 when JD(U) had walked away from NDA. In 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, when NDA emerged victorious, BJP decided to make Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi Deputy Chief Ministers in Nitish led NDA government, replacing Modi. He was later made Rajya Sabha member by BJP from its quota from Bihar. Chief Minister Kumar had snapped ties with BJP again in August 2022 to join hands with RJD to form Grand Alliance government. On January 28 this year, Chief Minister Kumar again joined hands with BJP deserting Grand Alliance and formed NDA government. BJP made Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha Deputy Chief Ministers in Nitish Kumar cabinet but Modi was ignored for the slot in this cabinet as he used to hold earlier from BJP quota in NDA government. As it is, Modi is suffering from throat Cancer. He is getting medical checkup inAll India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi. He was suffering pain in throat and detected as Cancer when he went for a check up. Meanwhile, former Union Minister and BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad said that he was deeply pained to learn that Modi was suffering from Cancer.
