Suvendu alleges democracy does not exist in Bengal

Kolkata, June 22 (Reporter) Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari on Saturday alleged that democracy in Bengal stands for Government "of the party, by the party, and for the party". "In West Bengal Democracy doesn't mean Government of the people, by the people, and for the people. It's of the party, by the party, and for the party," the Nandigram MLA said on his X handle. "Evidence:- CM will chair the Review Meeting of Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and Development Authorities except Taherpur & Jhalda Municipalities !!! "These two Municipalities run by the BJP have been excluded from attending a meeting to be chaired by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on June 24," he said. Banerjee is scheduled to chair a review meeting at Nabanna, the state Secretariat, on June 24 where all the chairpersons and heads of Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, and the district Magistrates have been invited except Jhlada and Taherpur Municipalties, Adhikari, citing a June 20 government communique, said. "The Memo of the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department has specifically prohibited the attendance of the Chairpersons of Taherpur & Jhalda Municipalities from attending the meeting," Adhikari claimed. " Why? Because these are the only Municipal Bodies where TMC doesn't have elected Boards. Can a Government Department discriminate in such (a) manner?
