Pune, Jun 13 (Reporter) The Southwest Monsoon was active over Assam and Meghalaya, while weaker over Telangana, said India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday. While, conditions are favourable for further advance of SW Monsoon into some more parts of Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Northwest Bay of Bengal in next 3-4 days, it forecast. Day temperatures were markedly above normal (5.1 degree Celsius or more) at most places over Punjab and Uttar Pradesh; at many locales of Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi; at a few corners over Jharkhand and at isolated sites over west Rajasthan and Bihar. They were appreciably above par (3.1 to 5.0 degree C) at a few locations over Himachal Pradesh, east Madhya Pradesh and Odisha; at isolated areas over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Gangetic West Bengal, Saurashtra and Kutch. They were above norm (1.6 to 3.0 degree C) at many sectors over east Rajasthan; at a few belts over Gujarat Region, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura as well as at isolated nooks over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh. They were markedly below normal (5.1 degree C or less) at isolated segments of Vidarbha and Rayalaseema. They were appreciably below norm (3.1 to 5.0 degree C) at a few slices over Marathwada; at isolated pockets over west Madhya Pradesh and Telangana. They were below par (1.6 to 3.0 degree C) at a few sections over coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal; at isolated pockets over Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala and Mahe while near normal over remaining parts of the country. The highest maximum temperature of 47.5 degree C was reported at Kanpur IAF (east Uttar Pradesh) in the country yesterday (on Wednesday). Heat wave to severe heat wave conditions prevailed in most sections of west Uttar Pradesh; in many spots of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, east Uttar Pradesh; in isolated pockets of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal. Heat wave conditions prevailed in some tracts of Uttarakhand, northwest Rajasthan; in isolated terrains of Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, northeast Rajasthan, northeast Madhya Pradesh and north Chhattisgarh. Warm night conditions prevailed in isolated portions of northwest Rajasthan and west Uttar Pradesh. Rain or thundershowers pummelled most niches in Sub Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and coastal Karnataka as well as at many divisions in Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Konkan, Goa, Rayalseema and Kerala. They battered a few parcels in Arunachal Pradesh, Madhya Maharashtra, interior Karnataka and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. They lashed at isolated regions in Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Jammu-Kasmir, Ladakh, east & west Rajasthan, east & west Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat Region, Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep.
