Bhubaneswar, Oct 25 (Reporter) Tata Power-led Odisha Discoms have launched extensive efforts to restore power in areas impacted by the severe Cyclone Dana, which caused extensive damages
to the electricity network in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kendrapara districts.
According to a release from Tata Power, Cyclone Dana’s powerful winds and torrential rains have inflicted widespread damage on power infrastructure across these districts and surrounding areas.
Despite challenging conditions, restoration efforts are underway with 15,000 dedicated linemen and engineers from TP Northern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPNODL), TP Central Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPCODL), and TP Southern Odisha Distribution Ltd. (TPSODL), working closely with government agencies and local authorities.
The restoration began when wind speeds reduced, allowing teams to safely initiate repairs.
Following the cyclone’s peak on October 24, the teams immediately began repair work as soon as conditions allowed.
The operations are being closely supervised by Odisha Government officials and the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), with continued support from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF).
Despite facing waterlogged areas and blocked roads, these linemen and engineers are working tirelessly.
To ensure public safety, the Discoms have implemented precautionary measures, and senior officials from all three affected Discoms are actively monitoring progress across impacted areas.
