Telangana: ACB nabs district panchayat officer for accepting Rs 2 lakh bribe

Hyderabad, Feb 15 (Reporter) The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths on Friday caught District Panchayat Officer Bogam Shyam Sunder and Panchayat Secretary Ketham Praveen Kumar red-handed while accepting Rs 2 lakh bribe. Bogam Shyam Sunder, District Panchayat Officer, Jogulamba Gadwal District, and Ketham Praveen Kumar Panchayat Secretary, Pulluru Grampanchayat, Jogulamba Gadwal District, had initially demanded Rs 3 lakh (Rs 2 lakh for Sunder and Rs 1 lakh for Kumar). They accepted Rs 2 lakh (Rs 1.5 lakh for Sunder and Rs 50,000 for KKunar) from the complainant in exchange for an official favour—restoring a dug-up road beside the complainant's venture and setting aside a notice issued by the District Panchayat Office, according to an ACB statement on Saturday. The tainted bribe amount of Rs 2 lakh was recovered from the possession of Kumar. A chemical test conducted on the contact portion of Kumar’s backpack, which had come into contact with the tainted money, yielded a positive result. Both officers misused their official positions for personal gain. As a result, Sunder and Kumar were being arrested and produced before the 1st Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases Court, Nampally, Hyderabad. In another case, the ACB caught an Assistant Divisional Engineer, Operations, TGSPDCL, Gachibowli, Sub-Division, Cyber City Circle for accepting Rs 75,000 bribe. On Friday, at about 1340 hours, Potte Sathis (43), Divisional Engineer was caught by ACB, City Range-II Unit at his office chamber, when he demanded 75,000 and accepted 2nd Part amount of Rs.50,000 as bribe from the complainant for doing official favour, for already approved work completion report related to the installation of a new transformer & CT meter at the apartment and for the approval of the work completion report dated January 28, 2025, forwarded by the AE office, pertaining to another electrical work related to another consumer. Earlier to this, the part of the amount or Rs 25,000 was already accepted by the Sathis. The tainted amount of Rs.50,000 was recovered from the possession of Divisional Engineer at his Instance and seized from his office table draw of his chamber. Both hands of the Sathis and the Left side office table draw of his chamber yielded positive result in a chemical test. Details of the complainant are withheld for security reasons. Therefore, the Divisional Engineer was being arrested and produced before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, an ACB statement added...////...
