Bhadradri Kothagudem (Telangana), July 21 (Reporter) Telangana Agriculture Minister Thummala Nageswara Rao inspected the breached Peddavagu irrigation project in Aswaraopeta Mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, on Sunday following heavy rains.
The Peddavagu medium irrigation project, suffered a major breach on Thursday night, resulting in the inundation of vast tracts of agricultural land in Gummadivalli and Kothuru in Bhadradri Kothagudem district and several villages in Eluru district, Andhra Pradesh.
During the inspection, the Minister assessed the breached areas, spoke with officials, and discussed protection measures and repair works for the project. He expressed anger at the concerned officials for their negligence.
Later, speaking to the media, the Minister described the incident as unfortunate and highlighted the efforts of the District Collector, Superintendent of Police, local MLA, and Polavaram MLA in preventing any loss of life.
He directed irrigation authorities to prepare proposals for the project's repair. Agricultural officials have already started a crop damage survey to ensure that affected farmers receive all possible support for crop and property damage.
The Minister assured the victims that after the final report from the Collector on the flood damage, they would receive full justice. During the visit, many victims surrounded Tummala's vehicle, asking for justice.
He assured them that he would work tirelessly to secure 100 percent compensation for every affected farmer.
