Telangana BJP urges Governor for CBI probe into telephone tapping scandal

Hyderabad, Apr 6 (Reporter) A Telangana BJP delegation, led by National OBC Morcha president Dr Laxman, urged Governor C P Radhakrishnan to order a CBI investigation into the telephone tapping issue during the BRS regime. In a memorandum submitted to the Governor, the BJP highlighted the ongoing investigation into alleged telephone tapping of private individuals and political opponents during the BRS/TRS government tenure from 2014 to 2023. The BJP delegation expressed concern over serious breaches of privacy and security, with evidence emerging of senior police officers orchestrating the operation. Allegations include tapping phones of opposition leaders during elections and extorting money from businessmen, reportedly with the complicity of BRS leaders. Given the gravity of the situation and potential threats to national security and individual liberties, the BJP urged the Governor to seek a report from the state and initiate a thorough CBI investigation into the matter, which falls under the concurrent jurisdiction of both governments and the Election Commission...////...
