Telangana CM announces Rs 10,000 interim relief to flood-affected family

Hyderabad, Sept 2 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has pledged to support those affected by the recent rains and floods in Telangana. On Monday morning, the Chief Minister travelled from Hyderabad to Suryapet district, where he was the first to visit the flood-affected areas and assess the damage. In Suryapet, the Chief Minister reviewed the flood damage before proceeding to Khammam district. At Nayakan Gudem, the overflowing Paleru canal cut off a road, which was promptly inspected by the Chief Minister. He also examined the left canal of Paleru, which had collapsed due to the floods. The Chief Minister then continued to Khammam, where he inspected the severely damaged Polepalli, Padda Thanda, and Bokkalagadda colonies, which were hit hard by flooding in the Munneru River. He personally visited the damaged homes, spoke to the victims, and offered them reassurance. Following this, an inspection was conducted at the Khammam Collectorate. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reported that heavy rains had caused significant damage in the districts of Khammam, Warangal, and Nalgonda, leading to the loss of 16 lives. Crops over lakhs of acres were destroyed, roads, canals, and ponds were flooded, and electricity substations and poles were damaged, resulting in an estimated property loss of Rs 5,438 crore. He emphasised that this is only a preliminary estimate and noted that rains were still ongoing in Adilabad, Nirmal, and Nizamabad districts. The Chief Minister assured that the administration is fully engaged in relief activities, and once the situation stabilises, a comprehensive damage assessment will be conducted. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy stated that since the rains began two days ago, he has been closely monitoring the situation with the Chief Secretary to the Government, DGP, Disaster Response Commissioner, and district collectors. He emphasised that he is personally committed to ensuring that the victims know the government stands with them during this crisis. The Chief Minister also noted that some had advised against visiting at this time due to the pain and suffering of the people, but he insisted that it is crucial to be present during their time of need. He mentioned that elderly residents had not witnessed such severe rain and flooding in 70-80 years. In response to the loss of essential items like rice, pulses, and salt, along with appliances such as TVs and refrigerators, the Chief Minister ordered authorities to provide immediate relief of Rs 10,000 to affected families...////...
