Telangana CM explores River Musi rejuvenation strategies in talks with Port of London Authorities

Hyderabad, Jan 19 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, initiated discussions with officials and experts from the Port of London Authority, focusing on the revitalisation plans for River Musi. During his visit to London, the Chief Minister engaged in a three-hour session, gathering insights into the management practices of the River Thames, a statement from the Chief Minister’s Office said on Friday. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy shared his vision for rejuvenating River Musi and emphasised the primary purpose of his London visit: to learn from the management strategies of River Thames and incorporate best practices into the plans for River Musi. Sian Foster, Director of Corporate Affairs, and Raj Kehal-Livi, Head of Stakeholder Engagement at the Port of London Authority, provided a comprehensive overview of the developmental activities along the River Thames, addressing natural challenges, engineering solutions, stakeholder management, investments, revenue management, and evolving best practices over decades. Expressing the importance of water bodies for urban human habitats, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted Hyderabad's unique development around both River Musi and the Hussainsagar lake. He emphasised that the rejuvenation of River Musi would contribute to powering Hyderabad with the combined force of a river and lakes. Aligning with the Chief Minister's vision, Kehal-Livi and Foster stated that the Port of London Authority is committed to ensuring the highest levels of sustainability for the River Thames. They emphasised their focus on developing and optimising the riverside areas while finding optimal revenue models for the maximum benefit of people and local communities. The London authorities assured full support to Hyderabad in its efforts to rejuvenate River Musi. Detailed discussions took place, outlining various potential partnership points.
