Hyderabad, Nov 11 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy acknowledged the significant role minorities played in bringing Congress to power in the state.
Speaking as the chief guest at the National Education and Minority Welfare Day celebrations held at Ravindra Bharathi on Monday, Reddy emphasised the unity between Hindus and Muslims, describing them as "two eyes" of the Telangana government.
The Chief Minister called on all communities to support his administration in advancing Telangana's progress in education, healthcare, and employment. Reddy drew a distinction between two major political factions, referring to them as the "Modi Parivar," which he claimed promotes discord, and the "Gandhi Parivar," which he said is committed to unity and national cohesion.
Reflecting on the legacy of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Reddy highlighted Azad's contributions to education policy aimed at improving access to quality education.
Reddy affirmed that the Congress party views minorities not as voters but as family members, acknowledging the contributions of Muslims to Telangana’s development.
Although no minorities were elected as MLAs in the recent assembly elections, Reddy stated that his government appointed Shabbir Ali as a government advisor and Aamir Ali Khan as an MLC to ensure representation. He also appointed a minority officer in the Chief Minister’s Office, a first since the YSR administration.
Reddy urged the minority communities to support the Congress party and the Mahavikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra, emphasising that the Congress party would ensure justice for all communities.
He called for efforts to secure Rahul Gandhi as the next Prime Minister to promote a vision of unity and inclusive development.
At the event, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy presented the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Awards.
