Hyderabad, Dec 29 (Reporter) Telangana witnessed a 22 percent increase in crime rate in 2024, and the police registered 169,477 cases.
It witnessed an increase in conventional crimes such as robbery, burglary, murders, rape, and cheating, among other offences, according to an annual crime roundup for 2024 released by Director General of Police (DGP) Dr Jitender here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jitender said there are no major Maoist-related activities in the state.
In an incident two people were branded as police informers and killed; he said the police promptly responded and brought the situation under control.
The DGP said there was no major communal violence in the state except for a few skirmishes in Jainoor, Vikarabad, and a couple of other places.
