Hyderabad, July 24 (Reporter) Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw stated on Wednesday that a record budget of Rs 5,336 crore was allocated for Railway projects in Telangana in the union budget 2024–25.
Addressing the media personnel in a virtual press conference from New Delhi on the budget highlights of allocations pertaining to Telangana state, Vaishnaw stated that the annual average budget outlay for combined Andhra Pradesh State during the years 2009–14 was only Rs. 886 crore.
The Budget allocations to Telangana have been witnessing a sustained increase with the current year’s allocation.
being almost six times more than the average allocation done during the period of 2009–14 for the combined state, he said.
He stated that the total cost of on-going Railway projects (new tracks) in Telangana state is worth Rs. 32,946 crore.
The Railway Minister informed that the railway network in Telangana is now 100 percent electrified.
He stated that in the last ten years, 65 km (average per year) of new Railway tracks have been laid across Telangana State as compared to just 17 km during 2009–2014.
To facilitate safety, 437 RoBs and RuBs have been constructed, he said.
40 Railway stations in Telangana State are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat station scheme, he added.
