Warangal (Telangana), Nov 17 (Reporter) The Telangana government has taken significant steps to expedite the construction of Mamunur Airport in Warangal district, with a series of measures aimed at ensuring the project's timely completion.
The government has issued a Government Order (GO) to release Rs 205 crore for acquiring 253 acres of additional land required for the airport’s expansion.
The Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has formally requested the Airports Authority of India (AAI) to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) with designs for the airport's construction.
Currently, 696 acres of land are already designated within the airport area, and the newly acquired 253 acres will be used for critical infrastructure, including runway expansion, a terminal building, Air Traffic Control (ATC), and navigational instrument installation sections.
In a major development, the GMR has withdrawn the 150-km exclusivity clause, which had previously posed a legal obstacle to the construction of Mamunur Airport. This move has cleared the path for the airport’s development, marking a significant milestone in the project.
Transport and Infrastructure Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy’s sustained efforts to promote new airports in the state have been instrumental in driving progress on this initiative. Under his leadership, Mamunur Airport has seen renewed focus and momentum, bringing the long-pending project closer to realization.
The development of Mamunur Airport is expected to bolster connectivity and economic growth in the Warangal region, positioning it as a key aviation hub in Telangana. Further updates on the DPR and construction timelines are anticipated in the coming months, an official statement said on Sunday...////...
