Hyderabad, Dec 3 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a global city comparable to New York during the "Hyderabad Rising" celebrations held at the HMDA Grounds, NTR Marg, on Tuesday evening. The event was part of the ongoing Prajapalana-Vijayotsavam celebrations, marking the government’s achievements over the past year. Addressing a gathering of dignitaries and citizens, the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to make Hyderabad a model for sustainable urban development. He called upon the people to support future plans aimed at advancing the city’s infrastructure and global reputation. Revanth Reddy credited the Congress party for laying the foundation for Hyderabad's IT sector, solving the city's drinking water challenges, and initiating landmark projects like the metro rail and the international airport. The Chief Minister announced plans to build a 360 km Telangana Maniharam Regional Ring Road (RRR), complemented by radial roads, at a cost of Rs 35,000 crore, aimed at decongesting traffic and boosting connectivity. Additionally, he revealed proposals for a future city spanning 40,000 to 50,000 acres to rival international urban hubs. Criticising the previous government, Reddy accused them of neglecting essential urban development during their tenure. He promised to revive the Musi River, emphasising its importance for the city's ecological balance. The government has already initiated the construction of water harvesting wells in 141 areas to manage floods effectively. Taking a sharp dig at Union Minister Kishan Reddy, the Chief Minister questioned the central government’s commitment to Telangana. He demanded financial support for critical projects, including Rs 35,000 crore for metro rail expansion, Rs 7,000 crore for diverting Godavari water, and Rs 50,000 crore for the Regional Ring Road. “If the central government can fund projects in Gujarat and Chennai, why not Hyderabad?” he asked. Revanth Reddy proposed an all-party meeting led by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka to draft a comprehensive future plan for Hyderabad’s development. He urged intellectuals and stakeholders to contribute their suggestions, emphasising the need for unity in ensuring the city’s growth. The Chief Minister called on the BJP and BRS to prioritise the people’s welfare over political rivalries. “Hyderabad has the potential to become a platform for global investments. Let us work together to realise this dream,” he said, promising that his government would leave no stone unturned in making Hyderabad a true cosmopolitan city...////...
