Hyderabad, May 21 (Reporter) Telangana Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Tuesday clarified that no applications for new liquor brands have been submitted, dismissing it as false propaganda by BRS leaders.
Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan, Krishna Rao stated that the previous BRS government had left bills pending in several departments. He highlighted that the current Congress government has paid Rs 6,000 crore related to the Rythu Bharosa scheme, and an additional Rs 370 crore this month.
Rao emphasized that any liquor scarcity would harm the government, not the people. The Excise Department has registered cases against those involved in black market liquor sales. Additionally, the tax relaxation granted to Tonique by the previous government has been removed.
To curb malpractices, CCTV cameras have been installed at liquor manufacturing units, and police vigilance has been intensified. Rao noted that while there were issues with transfers during the previous government, they are now conducted transparently through a portal. He warned that legal action would be taken against media outlets publishing false news.
