Hyderabad, Aug 2 (Reporter) To promote sports in the state, the Congress government in Telangana will bring new Sports policy soon.
"We will adopt the best sports policy in the state after studying sports policies existing in other states in the country," Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced in the Assembly during a debate on sports on Friday.
Apart from allocation of funds, a special action plan will be prepared to promote sports in the state and the government is inviting suggestions to develop sports policy, he said.
The government allocated Rs.321 crores in the recent budget to promote sports, he said that excelling in sports will also provide good job opportunities and bring laurels to the families.
"Our Government offered Group one posts to world boxing champion Nikhat Zareen and International cricketer Mohammad Siraj," the CM said.
Sports policy will be introduced in the next assembly session, he the government is ready to build stadiums in the Mandal Head quarters depending on the availability of land.
Preliminary talks with BCCI for the construction of an international cricket stadium near Young India Skill University-Telangana’ at Bagari Kanche ( Ranga Reddy dist.), outskirts of the city,
have already been completed.
The BCCI responded positively and the government will allot land for the stadium at the earliest, he informed.
Stadia which were built earlier in Hyderabad were being used for political events and private functions. The stadiums should be upgraded and encourage students to pursue sports as a career, said Revanth Reddy.
The Government is ready to take the responsibility of promoting sports, appealing to all to extend support.
The Government has no objection to name Potti Sriramulu Telugu University after Suravaram Prathap Reddy if all political parties agree, he clarified...////...
