Hyderabad, Jun 10 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced on Monday that the state government has decided not to close schools with single teachers.
Speaking at an event organized by the Vendemadaram Foundation at Ravindra Bharathi, where he presented Talent awards to class 10 students who scored 10/10 GPA in government schools, Reddy addressed the current state of government schools.
He acknowledged that government schools have been struggling due to a lack of teachers, resulting in some schools closing.
He noted that some single-teacher schools have been closed due to a low number of students, while in other cases, there are more teachers than students.
In light of these issues, the state government has issued a DSC Notification to fill 11,000 teacher posts, ensuring that single-teacher schools remain open.
The government aims to provide education to the poor, Dalits and tribals by running schools in remote areas, Thandas and Gudems.
The Chief Minister commended the Vandemadaram Foundation for organizing the programme, which encourages students and brings positive attention to government schools.
He highlighted that many IAS and IPS officers, as well as several chief ministers, ministers and central
ministers, studied in government schools.
Despite the government spending Rs 80,000 per student, most of this money goes towards teachers' salaries.
Reddy reiterated the government's commitment to filling 11,000 teacher posts and raising awareness among parents about government schools through the "Prof Jayashankar Badi Baata" programme.
Reflecting on his own education in a government school, the Chief Ministter emphasized the value of these institutions.
He mentioned that the responsibility for Amma Aadarsha Schools has been handed over to self-help women's groups and that funds for the Mid Day Meal programme will be issued through the "Green Channel," also managed by self-help women's groups.
He noted a study indicating that the parental-child relationship is weakened by residential schools and cautioned against neglecting village schools.
Reddy expressed that government spending on education is an investment, not an expense and that this investment will yield benefits for society.
He announced plans to establish education and agriculture commissions to continuously address related issues.
Authorities have been instructed to pay special attention to the admissions of students who scored 10/10.
Reddy also expressed his ambition for the state to achieve top ranks in intermediate exams and excel in the future, emphasizing that Telangana has a government that serves the public...////...
