Hyderabad, June 11 (Reporter) Telangana Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women Child Welfare Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has ensured that uniforms for government school students are ready on time, aligning with the government's goal of providing uniforms to students on the first day of school. As per the advice of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, the stitching work was handed over to women's groups. Measures were taken to coordinate between the authorities and these groups to ensure the timely delivery of uniforms. Minister Seethakka, on behalf of the women's associations, thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for entrusting the uniform stitching work to women's groups, marking a first in the country. Minister Seethakka congratulated the Women's Associations, Principal Secretary, Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development (PR&RD), and other officials for completing the work on time. Uniforms are now ready to be distributed to students on the first day of school. MLAs and public representatives will distribute the uniforms in government schools. In the past, the stitching work was given to a limited number of tailors, causing delays, and students often did not receive uniforms until three to four months after the school year began. Recognizing this issue, the Revanth Reddy government initiated a new approach by assigning the stitching work to women's groups. Additionally, the Telangana government increased the sewing charges from Rs 50 to Rs 75, enabling the women's groups to complete the stitching work promptly. There are 64 lakh women association members in the state and 18,000 village organizations. The government ordered 15,30,603 pairs of uniforms to be stitched, and so far, 90 percent of the uniforms have been completed.
