Hyderabad, Sep 9 (Reporter) The Telangana High Court on Monday directed the Assembly Speaker’s Office to decide on the disqualification of defected MLAs within four weeks. The court warned that if no decision is made within this timeframe, it will take up the case suo moto and resume the trial. Several MLAs, who were elected on behalf of the BRS (Bharat Rashtra Samithi) party, have since defected to the Congress party. In response, BRS MLAs Padi Kaushik Reddy and KP Vivekananda Goud, along with BJP MLA Aleti Maheshwar Reddy, filed a petition in the High Court seeking the disqualification of defected MLAs Daman Nagender, Tellam Venkatarao, and Kadiam Srihari. The petitioners referenced the Supreme Court's rulings, judgments from various states, and provisions of the Defection Act during the proceedings. The High Court bench, which had heard arguments on several occasions, adjourned the case to Monday for its verdict. The court’s ruling has been highly anticipated, with many eager to see the outcome. The bench ultimately instructed the Speaker’s Office Secretary to resolve the issue of the defected MLAs within four weeks.
