Hyderabad, May 1 (Reporter) Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj announced that a total of 525 candidates will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections slated for May 13.
Addressing media on Wednesday, Vikas Raj disclosed that the Secunderabad Parliament Constituency sees the highest number of contenders with 45 candidates, while Adilabad has the lowest with 12 candidates.
Among the 525 candidates, 285 are running independently. To accommodate this number, Raj stated that three Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be deployed at three locations, and nine EVMs at nine other locations.
Additionally, Vikas Raj informed that the Home Voting process will commence on Friday. The distribution of voter ships has commenced, and Postal ballot papers are being printed in respective districts.
Regarding security measures, approximately 155 companies of Central forces are expected to arrive. Nearly 2.94 lakh individuals are enlisted for election duty.
Citizens can lodge complaints via the toll-free number 1950 provided by the Election Commission, with 1,227 complaints received thus far.
