Hyderabad, Oct 5 (Reporter) Telangana Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka has strongly condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s remarks against the state government during his recent speech in Maharashtra.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Seethakka stated that the Prime Minister lacks the moral authority to speak on issues concerning farmers. “It is absurd for PM Modi, who has ruled for a decade without waiving a single rupee of farmers’ loans, to criticize the Telangana government’s efforts,” she remarked.
The Minister highlighted that Modi’s introduction of controversial farm laws has driven many farmers into distress and blamed him for the deaths of 700 farmers during the protests in Delhi.
“The BJP government has repeatedly failed to deliver on its promises to farmers, including pension schemes for those over 60 years old, which were mentioned on page 13 of the BJP’s 2019 election manifesto,” she added.
Seethakka accused the Prime Minister of failing to fulfill his commitment to increase the Kisan Samman Nidhi and criticized the government’s decision to raise fuel prices, thereby increasing the cost of crop production for farmers.
“The Modi administration has consistently failed to raise the Minimum Support Price (MSP) per crop costs and has cut down on subsidies for fertilizers and pesticides,” she further noted.
The Minister also criticised the Bharata Rashtra Samithi (BRS) for its partial implementation of farm loan waivers over eight installments, contrasting it with the Congress government’s record of waiving loans for 23 lakh farmers in a single phase.
“Both the BJP and BRS are targeting the Congress party to gain political mileage ahead of the Maharashtra elections. It’s ironic that BRS leaders, who themselves failed to deliver on their promises to farmers, are now criticizing Congress,” Seethakka stated.
She urged the Prime Minister to prove his sincerity by announcing a nationwide farm loan waiver and focusing on fulfilling his election promises rather than criticizing the Congress party.
Seethakka also called on the BJP to address its promises, including providing free electricity to poor households, instead of engaging in false propaganda against the Congress...////...
