Hyderabad, June 10 (Reporter) Telangana Panchayat Raj, Rural Development, and Women Child Welfare Department Minister Dr Danasari Anasuya Sitakka reviewed advance precautions for the upcoming monsoons and floods with officials at Dr BR Ambedkar Secretariat on Monday.
She emphasized the need for proactive measures to address potential problems in villages, which are under the administration of special officers, an official statement said.
Minister Sitakka instructed officials to identify issues in advance and take necessary steps to resolve them. The review covered protective measures against rains and floods, including connections under the Mission Bhagiratha scheme. She stressed the importance of identifying old houses and ensuring their safety.
Officials were directed to monitor water levels in ponds, dams, and reservoirs and to take action to prevent contamination and the spread of infectious diseases due to a lack of sanitation and contaminated water during rains. Immediate actions were mandated wherever necessary.
Minister Sitakka also emphasized the need for vigilance over goods stored in hotels, markets, and shops, suggesting temporary bans if diseases are likely to spread. Chicken farm owners were advised to maintain proper sanitation.
She recommended measures such as the removal of water from low-lying areas, filling of pits, bleaching water bodies, and spraying phenol. District, divisional, and mandal panchayat officials were directed to monitor sanitation works daily and chlorinate drinking water tanks.
Collaborating with the Department of Health, she called for the distribution of solution packets to prevent diseases. Minister Sitakka assured that the government is prepared to face any situation and ordered the evacuation of people from lowland areas if necessary.
Additionally, Minister Sitakka mentioned that the sewing of school uniforms under the Mahilashakti scheme is almost complete, and uniforms will be distributed to students at the beginning of the school term.
