Tenth std student hit by Javelin dies, TN CM announces solatium

Chennai, July 31 (Reporter) After battling for life for a week, a tenth standard student, who was hit on his head by a javelin during training in the school premises in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu on July 24, died late on Tuesday night. Chief Minister M K Stalin, in a statement on Wednesday evening, condoled his death and announced a solatium of Rs three lakh to his parents. The 15-year-old student T.Kishore, a native of Parvathipuram village near Kurinjipadi Taluk, was hit on his head after a javelin thrown by a fellow student at a training session held at a private school in Vadalur in Cuddalore district on July 24. Actually he was having a training session on Silambam and the Javelin throw training session was going on nearby, when the incident occurred. According to police, Kishore, student of a private school in Vadalur, suffered serious injuries and was immediately rushed to a private medical college and hospital in Puducherry and then to a hospital in Chennai. Kishore was later referred to the Government Villupuram Medical College and Hospital at Mundiyambakkam yesterday where he succumbed despite best of treatment. He was declared brain dead in the evening and later died in the night. His vital organs were donated with the consent of his parents. Meanwhile, the Vadalur police have booked a case under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 against the school’s Physical Education Teacher Praveen Kumar and the school’s headmaster for gross negligence. The school also did not have a proper playground facility. Meanwhile, Mr Stalin expressed deep anguish and grief over the student's death and announced the solatium from the Chief Minister's Public Relief Fund to his parents.
