Mumbai, Sep 19 (Reporter) The threats were made to senior party leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly by BJP and its allies due to his growing popularity domestically and internationally, said Congress party in-charge of Maharashtra Ramesh Chennithala on Thursday.
Speaking at a review meeting for the Congress party's Konkan division held in preparation for the assembly election at Bhayander in Thane district, he noted that the threats made to the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, by a ruling party MP, MLA and a central minister should be taken seriously.
"Rahul Gandhi's reputation and credibility have significantly increased both in India and abroad. He is the only leader in the country fighting against Narendra Modi and the RSS, and he has become a major challenge for the BJP. This is why the scared BJP and its allies are continuously issuing threats to him, but Rahul Gandhi is not afraid of such threats," he averred.
Chennithala said that today, Congress is the largest party in Maharashtra, and they will fight the assembly election together with the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) partners.
The Congress in-charge exhorted the party workers to strengthen the party organisation in the Konkan region and work towards restoring its former glory in this area.
He exuded confidence that the MVA will form the next government after the assembly election and that efforts to remove the Narendra Modi government will begin from Maharashtra, he added.
State president Nana Patole also spoke on the occasion...////...
