Chennai, Dec 5 (Reporter) Three people died and 23 others were hospitalised after they allegedly drank contiaminated water at suburban Pallavaram on Thursday. Police sources said the 23 people were admitted to Pallavaram and Chromepet government hospitals after they complained of vomiting and giddiness. Locals alleged that the deaths were due to contaminated water as sewerage got mixed with drinking water due to recent Cyclone rains. However, Tamil Nadu Minister for MSMEs T M Anbarasan, who visited the hospital and met the victims, ruled out water contamination and said it could be due to food poisoning. Confirming that 23 people were undergoing treatment, he said if it had due to water contamination more than 300 to 400 people would have been affected in the locality. Health Minister Ma.Subramanian, who also visited the hospital, said the water samples were sent to King's Institute for laboratory tests and after the receipt of the results the exact reason would be known. He also said that post mortem report was being awaited to know the cause of the deaths...////...
