Bhubaneswar, Jan 22 (Reporter) The Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Police apprehended three ganja peddlers on the Khurda-Chandaka road under Infovalley Police Station for illegally transporting ganja.
According to STF sources, acting on intelligence inputs, a raid was conducted on Tuesday night against the illegal transportation of narcotic drugs to West Bengal by ganja peddlers from Kandhamal district.
During the raid, three drug peddlers were apprehended, and the STF team seized 101 kilograms of contraband ganja from their conscious possession.
The accused failed to produce any documents or authorisation for possessing such contraband, leading to their arrest. They are being forwarded to the Court of the District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge in Khordha, Bhubaneswar.
A case has been registered under Sections 20(b)(ii)(C), 25, and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, and an investigation is underway.
Preliminary investigation and interrogation revealed that the accused, along with their associates (who are yet to be apprehended), were involved in supplying contraband ganja to drug peddlers in other states, particularly West Bengal. The accused are known to have frequent contacts with drug peddlers from other states.
An STF team is actively tracking their associates, and arrests are expected soon...////...
