Chennai, Mar 2 (Reporter) Tragedy struck a family when three young siblings--an18-month old infant and two below 8 years if age--died and their mother suffered serious burns in a fire mishap that occurred following a LPG cylinder gas leak at their house in neighbouring Chengalpattu town, about 70 km from here on Friday evening. Police said the tragedy occurred when the mother, Roji Katham (22), switched on the lights upon returning home along with her three kids after meeting her husband at the railway canteen where he works as a contract staff. A spark from the bulb triggered the fire as there was leakage from the hose connecting the LPG cylinder and the stove in the house. The fire soon engulfed the entire house that was filled with gas and doused by neighbours who rushed to the spot after hearing screams for help. Roji and her three children who had suffered extensive burns were to the Government Chengalpattu Hospital where one of the children, Aftab, a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, succumbed. Later, two other chuildren, Razya Parveen (8) and Sai Ali (4), who were referred to the Government Kilpauk Hospital in Chennai from Chengalpattu also succumbed to the burns.
