TMC manifesto promises repeal of CAA and NRC if voted to power with INDIA Bloc

Kolkata, Apr 17 (Reporter) West Bengal ruling Trinamool Congress on Wednesday released its General Election manifesto for 2024, promising a series of social welfare measures and pledged to repeal Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and stop the National Register of Citizens (NRC) if voted to power in association with the INDI Alliance Bloc. Rajya Sabha member Derek O" Brien, TMC working committee member Amit Mitra and state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya released the 100-page manifesto in the name of party chairperson and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging BJP's willful deprivation and curtailing the fundamental rights of the people. Derek O’ Brien said, “These are the promises which we will fulfill as part of the INDIA bloc, when it forms the next government.” Amit Mitra said they are committed to controlling petrol and diesel prices through the formulation of a price stabilisation fund. "We also promise to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and stop the National Register of Citizens (NRC) exercise in the country,” Mitra said. "The Uniform Civil Code will not be implemented across India," Mitra added. Mitra spelled out ten key promises in the manifesto among other things, saying, "Mandatory 100 days work for the labourers with minimum wage of Rs 400 and concrete house for all. All BPL families will get ten cylinders free of charge every year and each ration card holder will get five kg ration every month and It will be delivered at the doorstep free of cost." The other key promises are "enhancement of scholarship for higher education of ST, SC, OBC, old-age pension to be Rs 1000, implementation of Swaminathan Commission to guarantee MSP through regulations, all degree and diploma holders till the age of 25 years will get economic assistance for skill based training, higher education students will get Rs 10 lakh rupees credit card." The CAA will be abolished, NRC & UCC will not be implemented and 13 to 18 years old girl children will get yearly Rs 1000 and at a time Rs 25000. Besides, all women will get economic assistance and the Aayushman Bharat scheme will be replaced by another scheme worth Rs ten lakh...////...
